Stephen Horning |
Director Stephen Horning, B. Mus., Ed. Dip. graduated from the University of Victoria in 1978, majoring in composition, piano, and choral studies and subsequently has taken master classes in choral conducting with Eric Erickson, Bruce Pullan, John Tuttle, Doreen Rao, Jean Ashworth Bartle and Sir David Willcocks. Founder and director of the award winning Surrey CHildren's Choir family of choirs since 1992, Mr. Horning taught twelve years in the Campbell River School District where he founded the Campbell River Children's Choir and conducted the North Island Choral Society. Since moving to the lower mainland in 1989 to teach in the Surrey School District, Stephen has directed the Surrey Honour Children's Choir (1991, 1997, 2002), has represented Greater Vancouver Schools on the board of the BC Choral Federation (BCCF), and is a member of the President's Advisory Council of the BCCF. Stephen was a co-recipient of the 1999 Willan Award for Outstanding Service to the BCCF. In September of 2008, Stephen received a Surrey Civic Treasure Award for his contribution to the enhancement of Surrey as the Cultural Capital of Canada.
Miri Lee |
Accompanist Miri Lee, an award-winning musician, sought-after teacher and soloist, lives a life rich in music. Armed with a district scholarship in performing art, Miri entered the piano performance program at the University of British Columbia, receiving guidance and direction from an impressive roster of eminent pianists, musicians, and scholars. Besides her life at the keyboard, Miri loves reading, playing with her dogs (Louie and Happy), ballroom and salsa dancing, and strumming the harp. She is an in-demand wedding accompanist and the winner of numerous trophies and scholarships from piano competitions. In 2005, Miri was selected by CBC Radio to perform in a national broadcast.
Carol Coulson |
Choreographer Carol Coulson, attended Dalhousie University and UBC and received a Masters degree from the University of Lublin, Poland, in Folk dance and Choreography. She performed with Halifax Theatre Ballet Company and the New York City Callet under George Balanchine. Carol has produced, directed, and choreographed many spectacular events in Vancouver such as the Opening Ceremonies of Expo '86, the Papal visit, the Rick Hansen Welcome Home Tribute, and two Grey Cup half-time half-time shows. She is resident choreographer with "Choralstage" summer camp in Vancouver and the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, and co-directs the Rainbow Youth Theatre in Courteny.
