The Surrey Children's Choir 'Senior Choir' begins every season with a retreat to Timberline Ranch the first weekend in September, after school begins.  This retreat is an excellent opportunity for old singers to catch up after a summer apart, and for new singers to get to know the choir, and the singers they will make beautiful music with for the next 9 months.
The retreat is especially important for brand new singers, and singers moving up from the training choirs.  Along with vocal technique workshops and rehearsals, the singers enjoy the many activities offered by the ranch.  Choristers typically spend their Saturday afternoon of the retreat enjoying the outdoor pool, taking a calm horseback ride through the forest trail, testing their skills in a supervised rock-climbing facility, or having fun with the goats and chickens at the petting zoo.

Saturday evening is always great fun, when the singers break off into groups to rewrite lyrics to a song they've learned, or put together a skit.  Singers go home from the weekend comfortable with their peers and excited for the season ahead.  This year's SCC retreat takes place September 5th-7th
